BERKLEY CONGREGATIONAL "Making a Difference With Christ" |
|---|
Youth Choirs
For over 20 years the sound of children’s voices has echoed throughout the church on Tuesday evenings as the youth of our church rehearse the songs that they will sing on the second and fourth Sundays during worship. Their repertoire includes traditional hymns, praise and worship music, and contemporary tunes. Over the years the faces have changed but the enthusiasm to communicate with and about God has not. Diane Ennis, Director and Patrick Menges, Pianist work with the children to promote the love of music and how it relates to their (the children) journey of faith.
In addition to Sunday morning worship the choirs visit The Arbors, an area assisted living facility. Over the years the residents have watched the children grow and enjoyed an ongoing relationship with the kids. The kids also enjoy visiting the Arbors to attend Easter Egg Hunts and Trick + Treating. Any member of the church and other folks now residing in area Nursing Homes also get regular visits from the choir. Since 1987 the choir has performed concerts at Christmas and Easter for the congregation. They also have been involved in the “Lite’s On” Celebration held on Berkley Common each December for over 20 years.
Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the church.
All children age 4 and up are invited to join the choir. Singing on key is not required but enjoying to sing is a definite plus! Our choir is meant to be a fun choir where children can express their love of music while sharing the story of Jesus with others.
Fall rehearsals will start on September 20th at 6:00 pm.
“Come on down” there is always room for more!
